Lighthouse provides long-term accommodation and intensive support to homeless young people in Victoria. Lighthouse offers a unique live-in care and outreach program. The model revolves around creating a loving family home, for life. Max was appointed a Patron of the Lighthouse Foundation in April 2003. He joined a notable list of Patrons, including Brian Burdekin AO, Michael Crawford OBE, Bev Brock and Deborra-lee Furness. At the time of his appointment, Max said: “Fear is the dark room in which negatives are developed. The work of Susan Barton and the wonderful Lighthouse family has impacted so positively on the lives of many young people. My attitude has always been ‘if you can you must’. It is a tremendous privilege to be invited to become a Patron of Lighthouse”.

A keen photographer since the age of 10 Max is very much at home behind the lens. He is a prolific snapper. His capture of people, moments in time, glimpses of the world from sky-high windows and architectural features are astonishing. His work ranges from arty abstracts to hauntingly beautiful classics each an expression of his photographic art.
The experience of traveling, exploring locations or just the adventures of daily living bring the senses to life. Armed with a trusty camera, Max will create a pictorial story that takes the viewer into the moment, to be there with him. You see detail so easily over-looked. It becomes easy to imagine the sounds that would be all around to feel the texture at the centre of his attention to smell and even taste the atmosphere.
A caricature is either a portrait that exaggerates the essence of a person or thing to create an easily identifiable visual likeness, or in literature, a description of a person using exaggeration of some characteristics and oversimplification of others.
